Title: Searching for a Solar system analog in HD 131488
Abstract:
Over 400 extrasolar planets have been discovered to date, but so far only one
system bears any resemblance in its architecture to our Solar system. We have
recently identified HD 131488 as a new Solar system analog candidate through
near- to far-infrared excess emission indicative of terrestrial planets and
an Edgeworth-Kuiper belt. To confirm this interpretation of HD 131488's
planetary system, to better characterize its outer cold dust belt, and to
search for giant planets orbiting the star we propose deep Gemini/NICI
adaptive optics observations of HD 131488.
