Title: Synoptic Monitoring of YSOs in Orion, NGC2264 and Mon R2 with Flamingos and Spitzer
Abstract:
We propose to use Flamingos on the KPNO 2.1m to obtain synoptic
monitoring at J- and Ks-bands of Class I and II young stellar objects in
the Orion Nebula Cluster and in two smaller star-forming cores, over a
10 night period. These data will be used to complement time-series
photometry we will be obtaining simultaneously with IRAC on the Spitzer
Space Telescope. The goal of this program is to use the multi-
wavelength photometric monitoring data to determine the physical
mechanisms responsible for the near-IR and mid-IR variability of these
YSOs. These observations should shed new light on the processes
involved in the formation and evolution of circumstellar (planet-
forming) disks and on the accretion of matter from these disks onto
their "host" stars.
