Title: Properties of hot subluminous stars in the GALEX survey
Abstract: We propose to measure the properties of subluminous stars from a selection based on GSC2.3.2 optical magnitudes, GALEX ultraviolet photometry, and 2MASS infrared photometry. An exploratory set of spectra obtained at ESO and KPNO during twilight observations uncovered several previously unknown bright, hot subluminous stars. Our new selection of ~100 objects specifically targets high-proper motion stars with colourimetric properties typical of hot white dwarf and subdwarf stars. Ultimately, our sample will contribute to complete, magnitude-limited sample of these objects and help in building their respective luminosity functions.
