Title: Globular Clusters as galaxy building blocks
Abstract: Our recent study of Galactic globular clusters using Ca uvby photometry has shown that many globular clusters have multiple populations with distinct calcium abundances, suggesting that these globular clusters, like \omega Cen, are most likely the relics of more massive primeval dwarf galaxies that merged and disrupted to from the proto-Galaxy. We seek to obtain Ca uvby photometry for eight faint Galactic globular clusters using the SOAR/SOI. In the past, we failed to obtain reliable color-magnitude diagrams using the CTIO 1-m telescope for these objects and the telescope time with the 4-m class is in need. We also request ten nights of observing time with the CTIO 1-m telescope to perform photometric calibrations of these GCs and to obtain Ca uvby photometry for bright GCs and Galactic bulge fields, which will help to finish our survey sooner.
