Title: Spectroscopic follow-up of Planetary Nebulae candidates from the IPHAS survey

Abstract: The Isaac Newton Photometric H(alpha),r,i survey of the Northern Galactic Plane (IPHAS) is providing deep, high resolution images of H(alpha) of the inner 10 degrees of the Galactic plane. It provides a gain of 5 magnitudes in point source sensitivity compared to earlier complete surveys, at a pixel size of 0.3 arcsecond pixels to produce a survey of greater photometric depth and robustness. It uncovers large numbers of new extended and point source emission candidates. This proposal aims to confirm IPHAS top-quality PN candidates with the key science aim of improving the completeness of the local 3 kpc volume PN luminosity function.
