Title: Extreme emission-line galaxies at high redshift.
Abstract: We have used broadband photometry to identify the first statistically useful sample of extreme equivalent width (EW) Lyman- (alpha) emitting galaxies (LAEs) at 2.5 \ltsim z \ltsim 3. We seek to confirm these candidates spectroscopically, and obtain precise redshift and equivalent width information. We propose two complementary sets of observations, using multi-fiber spectroscopy (CTIO/Hydra or WIYN/Hydra) to probe Deep fields from the CFHT Legacy Survey, and using longslit spectroscopy (SOAR/Goodman or KPNO-4m/RC) to follow-up brighter, rarer objects found in the CFHT LS Wide fields.
