Title: Geometric Distances to Cepheids with Light Echoes
Abstract: We propose the search for light echoes around Galactic Cepheids. Light echoes offer the opportunity to determine the geometrical distance to the source of the light echoes. Cepheids are a key step in the extra- galactic distance ladder, and the distance determination with light echoes is independent of other methods. We propose to use the SOI on SOAR to monitor 7 Cepheids with variability (Delta) M>0.5 mag, some with unknown IR excess and with certain IR excess.
