Title: Near Infrared Spectroscopy of Planetary Nebulae
Abstract: We will use IRMOS to search for heavy elements in planetary nebulae covering a range of excitation, with particular emphasis on neutron- capture (Z > 30) elements. The data will also provide a nearly complete census of emission lines in planetary nebulae in the 1.1 - 2.5 micron region, including both recombination lines and collisionally- excited lines. These can be used to examine the excitation and abundances of more abundant elements as well as H_2. This proposal will also serve as a critical test of the interactive DMD-slit capability of IRMOS.
