Title: Optical/NIR SED's for the Deepest Radio Survey: Determining the Nature of the Ultra-Faint Radio Population

Abstract: We propose deep 4m Mosaic & 2.1m Flamingos imaging to provide sensitive photometry to completely sample our SED's in the red optical and NIR bands. By using 20cm VLA radio observations, we have produced a sample of AGN and star-forming objects without dust obscuration effects. The 2.7(mu)Jy rms radio observations are the deepest ever at 20cm and 99% of the >2000 radio sources are detected with Spitzer at 3.6 & 4.5(mu)m! The faintest of the 3.6(micron) radio sources are blank or barely detected at r'~26.5 indicating a major drop in the SED between these bands. These objects represent the bulk of the ultra- faint radio population and are likely to be the most distant objects and the earliest AGN and star forming populations. By completing these observations, we will be able to differentiate between the SEDs of the most likely types of objects which match the current data (E gal. z=1- 1.5, dusty starbursts, or high z AGNs z>6) and their photo-z's. Deep imaging proposed here will allow for the first time a determination of the nature and evolution of the entire ultra-faint radio population and possibly the earliest active galaxies.
