Title: Nucleosynthesis in Cassiopeia A
Abstract:
We propose to obtain high-quality spectroscopy of the young, core
collapse supernova remnant Cassiopeia A over nearly the full wavelength
range accessible from the ground, in order to understand the
nucleosynthetic yield of its progenitor star and supernova. These
observations, in concert with archival HST images and spectroscopy from
other ground-based observatories, will serve to constrain sophisticated
new multi-dimensional hydrodynamic models the authors are constructing
of Cas A's complex, optically-emitting ejecta.
