Title: Deep Lens Survey
Abstract: We request 8 nights of 4-m time to complete the Deep Lens Survey (DLS). The DLS, a deep imaging survey aimed at deriving cosmological parameters from cosmic shear and cluster counts, is very near completion after ~ 100 nights of time. Most areas have been completed, but some are still quite nonuniform, due to weather and the equipment problems. These areas can be made uniform to the depth of the survey with only eight more nights. Without these additional nights, large amounts of data (~ 1 Msec of exposure time) will have to be discarded in order to allow a uniform analysis of the dataset. At the current level of uniformity, the data will provide a marginal improvement over current lensing results, but not the qualitatively new results which are possible with the complete dataset.
