Title: Spectroscopy of KISS Emission-Line Galaxies toward the Bootes Void

Abstract: Deep surveys for emission-line galaxies (ELGs) have been shown to be efficient probes of large-scale structure. Furthermore, samples of ELGs tend to contain a higher proportion of dwarf galaxies than do magnitude- limited redshift catalogs, so they are excellent for studying the spatial distribution of low-mass systems. We propose to obtain follow- up spectra for a sample of ELGs from the 2nd KPNO International Spectroscopic Survey (KISS) catalog which overlaps the Bootes void. Because the KISS galaxies uniformly sample the galaxian population to z ~ 0.1, they will serve as a valuable probe of the distribution of galaxies both within the void and in front of and beyond it. We will use these data to address a number of important questions, including the nature of galaxies within the void, the spatial distribution of dwarf galaxies, and the environmental influences on AGN and star-forming galaxies. In addition, these spectra are important for establishing the properties of the KISS sample of ELGs.
