Title: The Physical Parameters of Red Supergiants: When Massive Stars Are as Cool as They Get

Abstract: We are proposing here to determine the spectral energy distributions for a sample of Galactic red supergiants in order to compare both the relative fluxes \it and line strengths to those predicted by the new generation of MARCS stellar atmosphere models. This will allow an accurate effective temperature scale to be established for solar- metallicity RSGs. Our eventual goal is to extend this study to the Magellanic Clouds, in order to test how metallicity affects the temperature scale of RSGs.
