The magnificent extent of the Horsehead nebula is best appreciated in a new
wide-field image being released today by the National Optical Astronomy
Observatory, taken by Travis Rector with the National Science Foundation's
0.9 meter telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory near Tucson, AZ. The
image is being released in conjunction with a close-up image of the
Horsehead from the Hubble Space Telescope, in celebration of the 11th
anniversary of the launch of HST.
