NIGHT OF THE COMET

Comet PANSTARRS will soon be visible in the evening skies above Kitt Peak!

We are scheduling two Special Programs to allow viewing of this comet at the earliest feasible time (when its distance from the Sun and the phase of the Moon both allow for optimal comet brightness under the darkest skies).

Historical harbingers of Doom, Death, and Destruction, these dirty balls of ice (excuse me, I mean “icy balls of dirt”) have inspired awe, wonder, and fear for centuries. Of course, one would think that in the 21st Century, we would be all past that, right? If so, one would be wrong.

Learn about the History, Science, and Mythology of comets as we wait for the Guest of Honor to appear in the sky. For those hands-on types, we will even make a comet of our very own!

Adults and families with children 6 years or above are encouraged to attend.

Reservations required. A boxed dinner will be provided.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

You may cancel at any time up to 48 hours prior to the program date without any penalty. A $20 per person cancellation fee will be charged for those who cancel less than 48 hours prior to the program date. If we are forced to cancel the program ourselves, you will not be charged anything.

On the day of the program we will make a “weather call” and determine if the program will proceed as scheduled or not. Assuming the weather cooperates, the per-person fee will be charged automatically at this time. You will receive a copy of your receipt at check-in time.

If a last-minute emergency or other situation comes up so that some or all of your group cannot make it, please let us know as soon as possible. It may save you money, and will allow us to fill the empty space with others from our waiting list.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not know how bright this comet will become, or what it will look like on the program dates. But we will do our best to give you a great experience regardless.
