UGC 10214: Tadpole Galaxy

This tidally-distrupted galaxy is located about 420 million lightyears away from Earth in the constellation Draco. Back in 2002, the Hubble Space Telescopeʼs Advanced Camera for Surveys captured a detailed image of this galaxy, as well as the more distant one it collided with in the near past.

SBIG ST8E CCD camera with color filter wheel

LRGB color production was used to create this image.

The image is quite noisy due to bright sky (moon light).

FWHM = 1.7 arcseconds

Luminance = 105 minutes binned 1x1

Red = 30 minutes binned 2x2

Green = 30 minutes binned 2x2

Blue = 30 minutes binned 2x2
