This spiral galaxy in located in a relatively sparse direction of Hydra. Its dimness and southern declination make this a very difficult target to image. Very subtle pink spots of emission nebulae outline the thin spiral arms. There are also a few background galaxies.

Luminance = 120 minutes binned 1x1
Red = 30 minutes binned 2x2
Green = 30 minutes binned 2x2
Blue = 30 minutes binned 2x2

  • This image was acquired during extremely poor seeing conditions.
  • Two iterations of L-R deconvolution (sharpening) algorithm using CCDsharp were applied to the luminance image.
