NGC 2174

This emission nebula in Orion surrounds a cluster of young and bright stars. This image is only a portion of the cloud. It is estimated that this cloud is around 6,400 light years away. Note how dark (opaque) the cloud is on the right side of the image.

SBIG ST8E CCD camera with color filter wheel

L R G B color production was used to create this image.

Luminance = 30 minutes binned 2x2
 Red = 10 minutes binned 3x3
 Green = 10 minutes binned 3x3
 Blue = 20 minutes binned 3x3
