ACADEMY VILLAGE

At the heart of the Arizona Senior Academy is a new kind of retirement community, the Academy Village.The Academy Village has the mission of providing its residents opportunities to remain vitally engaged with life,with learning and with the pursuit of personal growth. As such it offers single family homes and town houses along with the on-site Academy. The Academy provides one means by which members may pursue a life style of continued productivity, creativity and involvement with the community. At the Academy residents will be offered a wide variety of stimulating courses, lectures and discussion groups with presentations on literature, the arts , current events or other programs designed by the residents. Academy members will have access to the University of Arizona Libraries, concerts and other University amenities. Many of the residents have or will be establishing formal connections with the University or taking advantage of the opportunities for service in the greater Tucson community.

The Academy Village is located about 25 miles east of the University of Arizona Campus, some five miles south east of Saguaro National Park-East sited on 168 lush desert acres. Academy Village is also a continuing care community which will provide on-site health care , nurse practioneer, assisted living and the other elements required to grarefully "age in place". The Village is at the forefront of retirement communities, providing a wellness focus within an atmosphere that facilitates liflong productivity and creativity. Monthly homeowner's fee provides on-site health care including the services of a nurse who assists in assessments, administers medications and acts as a personal health care advocate. Added to this are all the traditional benefits of home ownership.

It is planned eventually to have 204 homes and 60 townhouses at Academy Village, along with the Arizona Senior Academy meeting rooms, offices, library and computer facilities. The Village community amenities include a heated pool and whirlpool, exercise center, activity room, gathering room suitable for dancing, dining facilities, tennis courts, transportation services, 24-hour on-site staff, emergency call system, trash pick-up and mainenance of common grounds.
