IRIM to Remain in Service at Kitt Peak! (1Dec94)

Through the new NOAO Instrumentation plan we are able to continue to
provide the HgCdTe infrared imager IRIM beyond the spring semester at
Kitt Peak. The wide field capability it provides for infrared imaging is quite
popular, especially at the 4-m telescope. We are pleased that we can
continue to make it available. This continuation is due largely to the
implementation of the Joint NOAO Instrumentation Program by KPNO and
CTIO. This has allowed us to combine resources to provide well balanced
instrument capabilities North and South while also pursuing a vigorous
development program.

IRIM will remain in its present configuration with its demonstrated
performance unchanged.
