Calibration files for the Mosaic Imagers

The following table contains an archive of the calibration files you will need while reducing NOAO Mosaic imager data. The most recently generated calibration files are highlighted with yellow background; older versions are in the white cells. The individual bad pixel masks are stored as a single tar file.

NEW On February 7, 2011 new WCS solutions, BPM and xtalk files were all added here. These were all produced from data taken October 2010 (4-meter) and January 2011 (0.9-m) with the upgraded Mosaic-1.1 which uses the Monsoon controller, new CCDs and dual-amp mode (16 channel). We are still evaluating the stability of these calibration files and users should verify these on their own data.

Note that on April 16, 2003, two new WCS solutions were added to the Mosaic-1 KP4m set of solutions. These are for the R (k1004) and I (k1005) band filters. They are based on observations of Trumpler 37 made on Sept 30, 2000 (UT) and using the USNOB-1 positions for objects in the field. These solutions improve on the accuracy of the mapping of the edges of CCD7 and CCD6 over the older 1998 solutions. Details on these new solutions will be added to this web page as time permits -- but these new solutions have been tested on data taken from April 2000 to March 2001 and have been shown to yield improved results over the 1998 solution.

CTIO Mosaic-2

00/10 Bad pixel mask produced from short and long-exposure R dome flats by K. Olsen, then hand-edited by L. Strolger to fill in gaps.

00/09 New crosstalk file made after significant tuning work by R. Smith.

99/08 Mosaic2 commissioning astrometric solution, produced by F. Valdes using a polynomial fit and TNX projection. Commissioning crosstalk file.

KPNO Mosaic-1

10/11 New crosstalk file, BPM and WCS produced for the upgraded Mosaic-1.1 with Monsoon controller. These were generated from data taken October of 2010. We are still evaluating the stability of these calibration files. Users should check and verify these on their own data.

03/03 New crosstalk file generated by Jannuzi from data obtained March 28, 2003. Users might find it more appropriate for data taken prior to this date (i.e. as far back as October 2002). I suggest testing it on a single image and comparing the results.

02/09 New crosstalk file generated by Jannuzi from data obtained Aug 30, 2002.

01/02 New crosstalk file generated by Jannuzi and Valdes from Engineering data obtained on Feb 17, 2001 UT. Slightly different values from earlier measurements, but nothing very significantly different.

00/10 Crosstalk file generated by Phil Massey of Lowell Observatory from KP MOSAIC-1 images he obtained October 5-6, 2000 UT.

00/09 Crosstalk file generated by Jannuzi and Valdes KP MOSAIC-1 images obtained August 28, 2000 UT after major work had been completed on the CCD controllers.

99/03 Crosstalk file generated from images obtained March 1999.

97/00 Crosstalk file generated from images obtained in 1997 for use in correcting images obtained with the Engineering grade CCD version of Mosaic-1. This file generated by James Rhoads and verified with additional images by Jannuzi. Example badpixel mask files for each of the eight CCDs, grouped together in a single tar file.
