United States Gemini Program

What is the NOAO Gemini Science Center?

The NOAO Gemini Science Center (NGSC) is the gateway for US astronomical community access to the 8.1-meter Gemini Observatory telescopes. The Gemini Observatory was built and is operated by an international partnership consisting of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Chile, Australia, Brazil, and Argentina. Each Gemini partner funds and manages its own National Gemini Office. The NOAO Gemini Science Center is the National Gemini Office for the United States. NGSC is a division of the National Optical Astronomy Observatory, with offices and staff in Tucson, AZ and La Serena, Chile.

The NGSC represents U.S. scientific, technical, and instrumentation interests in the international community of the Gemini project.
