Highly Multiplexed Spectroscopy with BigBOSS on the Mayall Telescope:
An NOAO Community Workshop

Local Information

Venue:

The conference will be held at the Marriott University Park

Transportation:

Getting to Tucson:

The best way to get to Tucson is to fly into Tucson International Airport. Cheaper international flights may be available into Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix but a 2 hour shuttle bus ride will be needed to get from the airport to Tucson and an additional taxi ride will be needed to get to the Hotel from the bus stop.

Getting to the Marriott University Park:

By Car:

Directions to the Marriott University Park by car can be found here.

By Taxi:

A taxi from the airport will cost approximately $25 dollars and will take about 20 minutes, depending on traffic. Airport taxi information can be found here.

By Shuttle Bus:

Arizona Stagecoach offers service from Tucson airport to any location in town. Reservations are recommended and travel times may exceed those in a taxi because multiple destinations will be visited on every trip. Round-trip tickets from the airport to the Marriott University Park cost $41 and one-way tickets cost $22.

Parking at the Marriott University Park:

Parking will be available at the Marriott. The NOAO rate is $9 per day per car, which will be added to room charges, if applicable.

Transportation around Tucson:

The easiest way to get around Tucson is by car, although there is a public bus system. Taxis are also available to get around but usually have to be ordered since it is hard to flag them down on the street.

Meals:

At the conference:

NOAO will provide breakfast, morning coffee break, and lunch on both days of the workshop (September 13 and 14), as well as an afternoon coffee break and cocktails with snacks on the first day of the workshop.

Eating out in Tucson:

Tucson has many nice restaurants at a range of prices. A very nice list with reviews, prices, and descriptions can be found here, courtesy of Romeel Davé. There are many informal restaurants located in the neighborhood of the Marriott.

Conference Information:

Internet at the Conference:

Wireless Internet access is available in the conference meeting rooms. Individual guest rooms will also include wireless Internet access.
