Compiling the Assignment Code

To make the assignment code, you must do the following:

• uncompress kaboom.tar.Z
• tar -xf kaboom.tar
• make

  This will compile the various C files into an archive called kaboomlib.a After kaboomlib.a has been generated, you may delete all subdirectories and files except whydra.f, concentricities, and kaboomlib.a.

  We will soon experiment with giving access to precompiled versions of kaboomlib.a which will eliminate the excess files.

  Finally, compile the FORTRAN code and link to this library by

• f77 whydra.f kaboomlib.a -o whydra

  This will generate the assignment code ``whydra". After whydra has been generated, you will only need the whydra executable along with the concentricities file for running the program on your input astrometric files.
