KPNO CCD Direct Imaging Options
Kitt Peak offers direct CCD imaging at 4 different telescopes. Each
has its advantages. The table below summarizes the technical
aspects of each configuration. For additional information, see
the KPNO CCD Direct Imaging
Manual.
This table includes typical limiting magnitudes obtained at
each of telescopes. We define the magnitude limit as the magnitude for
which a signal-to-noise ratio of 10 is achieved in 1 hour under dark
sky (new moon) conditions, and under typical seeing (FWHM) conditions
(last column).
Under different conditions, estimates can be calculated using
the IRAF routine
CCDTIME.
Telescope and Instrument questions may be sent directly to the
appropriate KPNO Staff Contacts.
