This image shows planet Mercury in transit across the face of the Sun. It was taken on November, 8, 2006, using the west auxiliary feed of the McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory. Sunspot 923 is visible to the upper right.

This photograph in white light was taken at about 12:22 p.m. MST, 10 minutes after first contact.
