Aerial photography of Kitt Peak National Observatory, 13 June 2003
About this image
The panorama of Kitt Peak, stretching from the WIYN 3.5-meter telescope on the far left to the Mayall 4-meter telescope on the far right. In the very front of the image stands the tower, formerly home of the Vacuum Tower Telescope, and now housing the Synoptic Optical Long-term Investigations of the Sun (SOLIS) experiment, with the triangular structure of the McMath-Pierce solar facility, the world's largest solar telescope, dominating the scene.
