The first permanent scientific telescope on Kitt Peak was the #1 36-inch, later the #1 0.9-meter, and currently the only 0.9-meter (although it was moved to the dome of the #2 0.9-meter to make way for the WIYN 3.5-meter telescope). This picture shows the outside of this earliest telescope.
