An image tube instrument at the 2.1m
About this image
Early instrumentation on Kitt Peak included image tube systems which used a high voltage electron cascade amplifier to detect fainter light than was possible with unaided photographic emulsions. Such an instrument is seen here at the 84-inch, now 2.1-meter, telescope.
