The Kitt Peak National Observatory Mayall 4-meter telescope building stands just below the actual summit of Kitt Peak at 6882 feet. The Mayall is the largest optical telescope on Kitt Peak and is used primarily for infrared and faint visible light observations. The building also houses a viewing gallery for the public, offering a 360-degree look at the surrounding Sonoran Desert. This view is from the north, looking south west.
