The Gemini Near
Infrared Spectrograph is a $4.2 million
long-slit spectrometer that will be mounted on the Gemini
South 8-meter Telescope
on Cerro Pachon, Chile, that will operate from 1 to 5 um and will offer two
plate scales and a range of dispersions. It is being designed and built by the National
Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO) at facilities
located in Tucson, Arizona.
