Starting here from the parking lot of the Visitors
Center (facing west), you can hike across the heights of Kitt Peak to
any of the destinations listed below. Take a few moments along the way to
observe the fascinating wildlife and geology of the mountain.
To trek in the direction of the Burrell Schmidt, Steward Observatory and the Mayall 4-meter turn right/north. Go up the hill to the west to experience the prehistoric (1979) Burrell-Schmidt Telescope. To wander along the path to the McMath-Pierce, 2.1-meter and WIYN turn left/south.
