Central Facilities Operations (CFO)

Central Facility Operations (CFO) is responsible for the basic facility support services and daily operation of the NOAO Tucson headquarters buildings.

These services incorporate the following:

  • Operation/Maintenance/Repair of nine buildings (~ 120,000 SF).
  • Major and minor modifications to the Tucson facilities.
  • Basic utility costs - water, sewer, trash, electric, gas and telephone.
  • Telecommunication system management (PBX and voice messaging).
  • After-hours contracted fire watch and security services.
  • Shuttle services and vehicle fuel.
  • Supervision of contracted support services (grounds, custodial and vehicle repair).
  • Parking permits, building and card access and key management.
  • Logistical support to KP Facility Operations.

Other efforts are also provided by CFO staff to other departments and/or divisions in support of their efforts.

These efforts incorporate the following:

  • Construction support for specific programs.
  • Support for staff office changes and warehouse services.
  • Backup cargo transportation services to KP.
  • Architectural and facility engineering support to programs/projects/divisions.
  • In cooperation with Kitt Peak, planning & support for the telecommunication/data connection between the two sites.
