Group Term Life Insurance ChangeIn an effort to enhance the benefits of our employees and provide additional protection and financial security to you and your family we have increased the group life insurance benefits for our employees at no additional premium cost to the employee. Effective, April 1, 2008, the Group Term Life Insurance Coverage amount will change from a flat rate of $40,000 for full-time employees to 1 x your base annual salary (rounded to the next higher $1000 if not a multiple of $1000) as the amount of coverage. The minimum coverage amount will remain $40,000 for full-time employees whose annual salaries are below $40,000 and the maximum coverage is $250,000. (Part-time employee minimum coverage will remain at $20,000.) All other life benefits, carrier, and terms of coverage will remain the same. The new life insurance group policy booklet can be downloaded at http://www.noao.edu/cas/hr/benefits/spd/Group%20Life%20Booklet.pdf Under IRS regulations, the value of employer-paid Group Term Life Insurance coverage in excess of $50,000 is considered taxable income to the covered individual and is reported on W-2 statements and included as "Wages, Tips and Other comepensation." the direct rollover rules have not changed.
When you are entitled to take a distribution from
your 403(b) account,
such as when you cease to be an employee of AURA, you may continue to
roll over
your distributions to another 403(b) plan, a 401(k) plan, or to an IRA
account. You should

The 2005 Summary Annual Reports for 2005 Benefit Plans are available at Summary Annual Reports MSAS FSA ADMINISTRATOR Mountain States Administrative Services (MSAS) will continue to administrator the FSA program for 2007 plan year. All FSA Claims should be submitted to Mountain States. For information regarding the FSA plan you may review the participant guide . You may download the claim form at the CAS Forms website . The claim form along with supporting documentation should be submitted directly to Mountain States via fax or mail for reimbursement. EAP Program --New LOCATION- Please visit the link below for additional detailed EAP Program Information http://www.noao.edu/cas/hr/benefits/benefitsmain.html#2top Domestic Partner Policy Medical and Dental Insurance Coverage is now available for Domestic Partners of NOAO and NSO employees. Medical and Dental insurance plans that cover NOAO and NSO employees, is available for Domestic Partners of employees. The Domestic Partners must be in an exclusive, committed relationship that meets certain criteria to be considered a spousal equivalent. A notarized affidavit available from the NOAO/NSO Tucson Human Resources office must be completed, and supporting documentation presented in order to qualify. Additionally, there are certain tax consequences to receiving these benefits. Please reference the NEW Domestic Partner Policy .
